NRA Darling and NRA 'A' rated Democrat , and former Congressperson Halvorson was smoked 54-23 ( 2/3 of the vote is counted ) byformer IL State Senator Robin Kelly. The reporter at Halvorson's campaign HQ noted how that at 9 pm CST , her 2 dozen  supporters in attendance had all gone home already.

Of course, all of the news reporting is focusing on the 2 mil in Mayor Bloomberg's SuperPAC contributions as the major factor in the race. By doing so, the reporters missed the message the SuperPAC was sending: That we need major reforms when it comes to stemming gun violence in the District, ntm nationwide. 

So in the first major election since Sandy Hook, it would seem that we who read the 2nd amendment sensibly may have finally found their voices. 

In the Republican primary for the same seat, a fellow named James McKinley holds a narrow edge over some guy named Wallace. McKinley is a 6 time felon, and calls himself ' the ex-offender here to prevent the next offender'. 

He does not support Obama gun initiatives saying that the area's problems' root causes are a lack of economic opportunity for the ' itty bitty guy, the people the Chicago Machine forgot.'  He was quite an intersting person.I support his endeavors, if not his canidacy.

On the Republican side, the winner is expected to net less than a thousand votes.

sec--I won't pull a pops on you and print the lyrics to a song, but commie is the epiyome of "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha.  He's on a quest, he just has no answers (at least any that in plain old english make sense).  Even what you've said about how or what needs to be done, in this day and age I believe "IF" it can be done is also a valid option.  Doing things more effectively and efficiently may never solve all our problems, but they'd go along way to correcting many of the ills of the past.

political parties control the political infrastucture, and I dont see how an outsider can win, or change anything

The tea party has tried to work within the repub party, to effect change 

they did manage to get a lot of right wing nut jobs elected. Unfortunately, ( for them)  while getting lots of folks elected, their lack of ideas and anti-science idiocy sealed their fate

I do quite a lot of work for local liberal candidates   I think the best way to move to the country foward, is to elect liberal, progresssive and sane candidates

Since liberals are blamed by the party of personal responsibility, for everything wrong in America, I say it's high time for liberals to actually weild power and control the political landscape

And I might not live long enough to see it, but I am optimistic that it will happen

Young Americans are disregarding the bigotry and social conservatism of the past

They dont judge others based on race, gender or sexual identity

Women are winning more and more elections

Over half of us are going to vote Democratic Party, no matter if the deficit skyrockets, or if it is sinking like a stone.
