Rutgers WR Sanu declares for 2012 NFL Draft

Posted by Chip Patterson

Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will take advantage of his record-breaking performance in 2011, and forego his senior season to enter the 2012 NFL Draft. The unanimous All-Big East First Team selection made his decision official during an on-campus press conference on Tuesday.

"It was a tough decision, because I was definitely thinking about coming back," Sanu explained. "I'm going to miss the family, the cohesiveness of being around my teammates every day. I'm emotionally attached to this team, we have such a tight bond, and I love all these guys."

Sanu set Big East records for single-season receptions (115) and single-game receptions (16) this season. In just three years on the field the star wide receiver finishes his time at Rutgers' as the conference's leader in career receptions with 210 catches. Sanu joins Ray Rice, Kenny Britt, and Anthony Davis as Scarlet Knights to declare early for the NFL Draft under head coach Greg Schiano. All three previous players were first round draft picks.

CBSSports.com's Rob Rang ranks Sanu as the fourth best wide receiver in the 2012 class, and currently has the Rutgers' star going 30th in his latest NFL Mock Draft. In addition to his impressive receiving statistics, Sanu contributed 653 rushing yards and four touchdown passes in his time with the Scarlet Knights.

UM loses Forston, Streeter to 2012 NFL Draft

Posted by Chip Patterson

Miami's large NFL representation likely grew on Monday with the announcement that defensive tackle Marcus Forston and wide receiver Tommy Streeter would make themselves eligible for the 2012 NFL Draft.

CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman reports that Forston and Streeter - both juniors - plan to sign with Drew Rosenhaus and begin preparing for April's NFL Draft. Streeter led the Hurricanes in all major receiving statistics this season, pulling in 46 catches for 811 yards and eight touchdowns. According to the Miami Herald, the star wide receiver had a long meeting with head coach Al Golden to discuss the possibilities of entering the draft.

Streeter's size and speed will give him plenty of opportunities to impress scouts at the combine, at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds the junior combines his size with reported sub-4.4 speed to give himself the opportunity to join the long list of successful NFL receivers to come from The U.

Forston's exit seems like much less of a surprise to those around the Miami program. After an outstanding freshman campaign in 2008, the talented defensive lineman has struggled to stay on the field. Injuries ended his 2009 and 2011 seasons, though his performance when healthy has been active and dominant.
