Former Tide player says UF's Easley attacked him

In what we fully expect to be the strangest story Eye on CFB covers today, a former Alabama football player has accused Florida starting defensive lineman Dominique Easley of attacking him outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium folllowing the Gators' 38-10 loss to the Tide Saturday night.

The Tuscaloosa News reported Tuesday that former Tide defensive back Reggie Myles has filed a complaint with University of Florida police. The complaint states that sometime shortly after midnight, Myles was tackled from behind in an unprovoked attack while waiting on a stadium walkway. According to the complaint, Myles was able to identify his attacker as Easley after speaking to Easley's parents, who were present at the scene.

The Florida UPD has yet to confirm that identification, however, and has neither arrested or cited Easley nor has any current plans to.

"I'm trying to identify a suspect, who it was that actually hit him and injured him. I'll go from there," said UPD officer Steve Wilder.

That identification could hinge on a cell phone which Myles recovered at the scene. According to Myles, Easley dropped the phone during the attack and his parents requested its return following the incident. The phone was turned over to police. Myles told the News that two other eyewitnesses would also be making statements to the UPD.

The Gainesville Sun reported that the Florida athletic department had made no comment on the situation as of Monday evening.

Myles himself was charged with public intoxication and criminal mischief related to his angry reaction to the attack. "It was based on the way he was behaving when we were trying to sort everything out," Wilder said. "He'd just been hit from behind by an unknown assailant, and was scraped up pretty good. I understand him being upset. Unfortunately, we couldn't get him to calm down."

Myles's allegations do result in an arrest -- and that's a gigantic "if" at this stage -- it would be another black eye for a Gator program that's acquired quite the reputation for its run-ins with the law over the years, and Easley's potential punishment could be a substantial blow for a talented defensive line that showed against the Tide it still has room for improvement. (Easley currently leads the Gators with 4.5 tackles-for-loss.) But until/unless the UPD makes a positive identification of Easley as Myles's attacker, any fallout from Myles's allegations remains in the realm of pure speculation.

Like I said, you can't even bring yourself to recognize the NCAA official count, Arty. Being from the State of Alabama, I was always a Tide fan but I used to root for Auburn second to Bama as a matter of in-state pride. Over the years I've come across enough idiot Auburn fans like you that I no longer do that. Now they're just another SEC school as far as I'm concerned. I actually got a little tickled when they lost to Clemson this year. That's a first. However, the entire "but the quarterback" situation disgusted me enough to lose any faint feeling I once held for that school. I'd rather root for Ole Miss. I have strong family roots from Mississippi too.

EAMC - cracking me up!  (you messed up the whole API thing)

A lot of NC's sounds good to me.

What did you think of the Jay Barker vs. JJ post?  (I thought that was pretty funny)

Got to love fans of East Alabama Male College (EAMC for those in the know) daring to tell Bama how many national championships we have.
Will  "A lot more than you" be sufficient?

Vrangler & UATalum - the tide has a rich tradition of winning, but it's tough claiming the back-dated NC's that UAT discovered in the 80's as legit (vranger - legit was your word & please ignore UATalum's post that on 11 - don't throw away that "Got 13" hat - other Bammers still believe).  I'm too lazy to post year by year as to what I think is legit & we won't agree anyway, but the following link might help you understand where everyone else outside of T-town is coming from:

The whole 13 NC's is derailing this thread (I just think it is funny when 13 NC's is a come-back from a tide fan - you got a solid squad this year: try look at the rankings or something like that).  I just like to call BS everytime a Bammer brings it up - it's all good.

Back on topic: I think that Jay Barker (the greatest college football player ever) should get drunk, wait outside of Bryant-Denny on the night of the LSwho game for Jordan Jefferson, & pick a fight in front of his parents.  Who else would be a better former player to get drunk, hang outside a stadium, and pick a fight?  (He'd show those pesky Boudreux's what the UAT Fighting Elephants are all about).

Good luck against Vandy this weekend

So you don't believe Bama fans, you don't believe Wiki, and evidently you don't believe the NCAA either. LOL

I know it must be rough for you to do the research. I guess they didn't rebuild the Auburn Library after it burned down years ago. From what I heard, it was a total loss ... and a crying shame. Rumor has it that two of the books in the library hadn't even been colored in yet.

Reggie Myles needs to go to man school

So, it sounds like Myles, the supposed adult, picked a fight with Easley, the supposed kid, and lost.  Myles should be a man, lick his wounds, and go pick a fight with someone he can actually beat next time he wants to relive his old "glory days."  What a pathetic putz.

You're right art, it's not 13 championships. Im an objective college football fan, and as much as I'd like to claim 13, any responsible fan would have to go by how many championships the governing body of college football, the NCAA, officially recognizes. That's about as legit as it can get, considering there were multiple entities awarding NCs back in the early 20th century. The NCAA came up with a protocol for officially deciding which teams to recognize as the national champion or co-champions. I'm sure you will try to spin some kind of BS reason to try to argue your point for discounting these official numbers. But I'm pretty sure that the best route to go by as far as recognizing national champions is to go along with the NCAA's decision. Otherwise, it would be a cluster **** and the Alabama fans that claim 13 would be just as legit as the anti-Bama fans who claim they have only 8 or 9.

SO any smart Bama fan can beat their chest and claim their 11 national championships.

It may not be the 13 that the school claims, but it's still 9 more than our little sister Auburn has. Congrats on getting your second after 130 years of playing football. Your school averages a championship every 65 or so years. Alabama averages one about every 12 or so. At that pace, if Alabama quit playing football today, it would take Auburn roughly 585 years to get to Alabama's 11. If Alabama DIDN'T quit, and we kept winning at our average the time the 585 years had passed for Auburn to get to that 11th NC, Alabama would have added 48 more NCs to our previous 11.

I know this basic math may be hard for a Barner to wrap his head around, but basically what I am saying is that Alabama Polytech will always and forever be the little sister to the University of Alabama. No amount of 5 or 6 game win streaks or bought and paid for national championships by Polytech will ever be able to change that. The whole country knows it, the only ones that don't know it are yourselves.

So enjoy your little season of magic while you can, you know, the one your school sold it's soul for. The season with the big black cloud of doubt over it that everyone sees but yourselves. In just a few months there will be another NC and we can remove the "defending" part off your national championship title, and wait until the truth comes out and we can add the asterisk that everyone knows really belongs there. It must really suck for half of your official national championships, you know, 1 of them, to be tainted.

Former Tide player says UF's Easley attacked him

This was just payback from when the Tide's Tommy Lewis ran off the sideline and tackled that Rice player in the 1954 Cotton Bowl.  I guess it was just a long time coming, but at least the target could have been somebody better than a scrub like Reggie Myles.

vranger - I wouldn't site Wikipedia as a credible source for "legit" national titles (the same link gives AU 5 NC's - still better than the 2 that i consider legit).

RebelRaiders - the rings were a Tubervile thing, but AU was awarded the 2004 People's National Champion title (I'd bet that UAT would have claimed it as "legit" or maybe UAT might claim it now since USC vacated it - might be time to buy a "Got 14?" T-shirt?).  As far as the Toomers oaks go, not much to say about the class of tide fans - still worse than former players getting drunk, hanging outside a losing teams stadium & trying to pick a fight in front of an opposing players parents (Easley's dad probably told him to go shut that guy up).

We will completely derail this thread is we keep on talking about the tide's 13 "legit" NC's - I'll just start a new one to talk about it to keep you guys happy.

Back on topic, this is freakin hilarious.  Easley should have just given him the old open hand B-slap.  The fact that Myles acted like a jacka$$ afterwards to the cops & got a public intox & a criminal mischief charge is even funny.

$20 says that Myles never hangs outside of an opposing teams stadium talking smack after this one (I think he got his medicine)

Gourds - please let me know the years in which UAT has won 13 "legit" titles (Legit is your word, not mine.  Also, please don't include the titles mysteriously discovered in the 80's because UAT probably isn't finished claiming back-dated mystery titles - I'm sure you wear your "Got 13?" shirt w/ pride & ignore the laughing from everyone else).  UAT claiming 13 is like AU claiming 9 - the difference is that Bammers truly believe that all 13 are legit.

Also, how is this a story?  Past-his-prime bama player, trying to re-live his glory days after an UAT victory, gets drunk & decides to hang out outside the stadium until midnight & talks smack to a gaytor (and gets his arse whopped in the process).  I don't see how Easley has any reason to worry about a suspension - stupid drunk looking for trouble, found what he was looking for: End of story.

The big question is - was Myles drunk & talking smack to gaytor players alone at midnight outside of the stadium or did any of his former teammates just standby & let him take the beating that he deserved?  (i put easley & not myles in my previous post

As far as I know..only the Barn has actually had rings made for a Championship that NO ONE, not even a fake ranking system gave them.

Please, go back to crying over dead trees and know..stuff you tAUrds have actual knowledge of...
