Report: Kiffin, Tennessee escape sanctions

Tennessee's football program and former head coach Lane Kiffin will not be subject to further NCAA sanctions, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel.

The two parties went in front of the Committee on Infractions in June to explain major violations surrounding recruiting infractions and Kiffin's failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance. According to the report, the committee deemed these violations minor and accepted Tennessee's self-imposed penalty of two-years probation.

Former basketball coach Bruce Pearl and staff were not as lucky, as a source told CBSSports.com that Pearl would receive a multi-year show-cause penalty and former Vols assistants Tony Jones, Steve Forbes and Jason Shay will each receive a one-year show-cause. No further restrictions were placed on the program beyond what was self-imposed.

Kiffin left Knoxville to become head coach at USC and is dealing with that school's NCAA sanctions following the Trojans' unsuccessful appeal earlier this year in the Reggie Bush case.

The News Sentinel and other outlets are reporting that the full NCAA Infractions report will be released on Wednesday.

Tennessee sanctions: Teflon Vollies escape again

Unbelievable.  The cheating continues and the NCAA looks the other way.  Only option to punish this school is to beat the tar out of them (again) this season.  I love Derek Dooley, but UT will dump him within three years.  This season is going to be UGLY for Vol fans.

Nuffsaid - totally off the subject here, but its y'all.  At least that's how we say it, and spell it, where I come from down South.

I know how you all were hoping & praying the NCAA would dig up dirt on Kiffin.

Digging up dirt of Kiffin is like looking for water while you stand in the middle of a creek.

He is dirt. He's a complete waste of space, and anyone living in California should be pissed that he is in your state using up valuable oxygen, and putting a strain on an already over-taxed electrical grid.

I hope that this is the last time that we ever hear Lane Kiffin's name associated with The University of Tennessee.

WTF! What a joke. Doesn't  the NCAA know that LK is the root of all evil. He makes rivers rise, tornadoes touch ground, earth shakes. Oh wait.  Only secondary violations thats right...  Nice to see the SEC is still batting 1000.00

It is pronounced you'all jack wagon. However, being a birds on the bat fan since Bake Mcbride and 1975, I will cut you some slack. That being said, I see all of your teams other than the birds are from Illinois, good choice. My wife, good god, is a Cubs fan. Southern does not  mean dumbass, only locale.

Congress, really...

If you really ever wanted to hold public hearings to distract the public from your gross incompetance and corruption - get the NCAA and its subcommittees in front of some microphones and and put the spotlight on the the NCAA incompetance and corruption...

...you'll cruise for another ten (10) years...
