They suspended him for a third drug test and did not kick him off the team. This does not sound like a school trying to keep its foundation solid it sounds like a school that is still trying to figure a way to get this kid in the game. Keep having your rose colored glasses on Ohio State but the truth is the truth tressel wanted to keep this kid and not do the right thing by kicking him off once is a bad choice twice you have a problem but the third time you should be done.

OSU self reported?  They knowingly played inelligible players for an entire season.  Then, when it was about to hit the fan and become public, they self-reported.  They also only reported the Tressel emails because someone was going to make those public.

Where on earth did you dig this up?  You have no idea what you're talking about.  The only thing you said that is even remotely correct is that ineligible players played.  OSU didn't know that, but their rogue coach did.

Because of his actions, I have to separate Jim Tressel from OSU as a whole.  OSU did not know that the players were ineligible.  And how do you know the information was about to become public?  The Feds sent OSU a letter on December 7 stating that they found various OSU items in a raid on Rife.  They were asking if it was stolen or if the players had any claims to the items.  Just because the Feds sent that letter doesn't mean that they were going to release the information to the media.  In fact, I would think that the Feds would avoid leaking evidence that relates to a drug investigation.  At that point, OSU (in conjunction with the NCAA) investigated the matter.  The university privately suspended the players immediately, then over the course of three weeks or so, self-reported (again with the NCAA's assistance) the issue to the NCAA.  The 5 game suspensions were announced just after Christmas.

As far as Tressel is concerned, the university found the emails sometime around January 13 as they were preparing the appeal of the players' suspensions.  After internal investigation (and after waiting on Gee to return from out of the country), OSU contacted the NCAA and initially reported the issue to the NCAA in very early February.  OSU and the NCAA jointly worked on the investigation and the self-report.  Yahoo Sports didn't break the story until almost a month later, on or around March 7. 

Do you honestly think that a school (in conjunction with the NCAA) can do an investigation into incidents such as these in a matter of hours like you'd want us to believe?  The shizzle wasn't about to hit the fan when OSU started the self-reports.  OSU started the self-reports and someone leaked that to the media, not the other way around.  You'd have us believe that the tail is wagging the dog when that's the furthest thing from the truth.

Ya but people seem to be missing one big double standard in this whole mess at OSU.  The NCAA and the Bowls wanted and begged for OSU not to sit the players out during the bowl game and at that time not months later like people believe or have been told the NCAA Knew.  Same thing with Newton yet there is still an investigation going on for his case, wait till after his first year in the pros then I bet more will come out.

Tressel should be suspended for a whole year too and without pay!

OSU self reported?  They knowingly played inelligible players for an entire season.  Then, when it was about to hit the fan and become public, they self-reported.  They also only reported the Tressel emails because someone was going to make those public.  USC did not find out about Bush's violations until the 2:00 a.m. blackmail call came in to McNair, after Reggie had played his final game with USC, and then USC started an investigation and reported the blackmail call to authorities.  Yahoo broke the story before they finished the investigation.  The only thing they could have self-reported (and shoud have) was an allegation by an ex-convict that Reggie had agreed to sign with him as an agent.  That was a far cry from what everyone found out Reggie had been involved in when the story finally broke.  In fact, most of the NCAA's hits to USC were for failing to monitor close enough to uncover the violations, essentially agreeing that for almost all the violations, USC did not know of them.

Any truth to the rumor that he got his drugs from Cris Carter's house?  LOL  1 player down 30 criminals left to get. They should start looking at #2.  He has criminal written all over him.  I am guessing once Tressel gets fired and has the sweater vest ripped off of him, you will see alot of tattoos on his arms.  Wonder what he traded to get them?   Couldn't happen to a better school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the foundation cracks a little more every day. A cheater wins but not forever and eventually gets caught just ask the USC program.


OSU is disciplining a very talented kid who failed a 3rd drug test.  That looks to me like a program working to keep it's foundation solid.  Yes, Tressel's mishandling of a difficult situation can be interpreted as cheating, but OSU did not get caught cheating.  The school self-reported all of the violations...including Tressel's failure to notify the school and the NCAA that he knew of violations.  That is one thing that separates OSU and USC.

You've cheated your way to the top....Congrats cheater!

How is this cheating?  We're talking about a player who was a 5-star recruit, but is now suspended for the season because he won't give up his chronic.  This is a case where OSU has done the right thing.  There are plenty of things worthy of criticism at OSU.  Why don't you save your vitriol for one of those things?

At what point does the charge of lack of institutional control charge comes down from the NCAA.

Dude, you have not been paying attention to what is going on.  The NCAA has concluded its investigation and already issued its Notice of Allegations, which fall a couple of levels below the "Lack of Institutional Control" level.  Sorry, but you will have to keep wishing.
