Needless to say, there are things going on in the state of Alabama today, and all through the south, that are a lot more important than college football. Tornadoes have been all over the area, with some towns like Huntsville, Alabama reporting that five tornadoes had touched down within the city's limits at the same time.

Then there's this video, taken by Clay Hasenfuss of Tuscaloosa showing his view of a tornado from his apartment. You'll notice the large structure in the background just in front of the tornado. That would be Bryant-Denny Stadium, home of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Thoughts and prayers go out from everybody here at CBSSports.com to all those in Alabama and everywhere else dealing with the devastating force of Mother Nature today.

Tornado runs by Bryant-Denny Stadium

I live about 20 miles from Huntsville and yesterday was a miserable day.  Hearing every 5 minutes another tornado was on the ground headed towards the town I live in was very scary.  Usually storms don't bother me but when you're hearing of communities being wiped of the face of the earth west of me it gets you pretty stired up.   I have two friends who lived in Tuscaloosa and were killed by this tornado.  It's not fun and I really appreciate all the prayers and thoughts that hated and rival schools and conferences have for us.

Tornado runs by Bryant-Denny Stadium

I down in Mobile, but I have branches in Jackson, Birmingham, and Atlanta, and all three are reporting customers with major damage spread all over the place.  My boss was headed to Huntsville for a client meeting and said at one point was caught between two 1/2 mile wide tornados less than 10 miles apart.  It was insane...190 reported dead so far...and I have a feeling this summer is jsut beginning.  My Jackson branch has been hit three times this month by tornados in Clinton, MS

From an Ohio State fan living overseas, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Alabama and the other effected areas of the south.  God Bless.

That is really scary looking, especially with all of the electricity/lightning flashes bouncing off of the twister. and all of the debris flying around.  I didn't realize that the fatality list was so high and still climbing.  Thoughts and prayers to all affected in any way.

All of the deaths caused by these storms and twisters is sobering to say the least. God be with all who have suffered the ultimate loss...life.

Football meccas like Bryant Denny would be terrible to lose too...but let us not forget that human life was lost ...first.

It was within 200-300 yards from hitting Coleman Coliseum (basketball arena) too.  From what I'm told, it was less than 1/4 from hitting Bryant Denny, if not closer.  The pictures that friends have sent me are very bad.  Still waiting to hear from others...
