Last week it was reported that somebody had stolen items that belonged to Georgia players from the football team's locker room. Things like iPods and iPhones, and other expensive stuff that we all need to have to get through the day to help us keep our mind off of doing other things like our jobs. Well, yesterday we found out that the thieves were a couple of area high schoolers who had been visiting the school in Carver Columbus High's Deion Bonner, Marquis Hawkins and another unnamed recruit.

After the arrests were made, Georgia's police chief Jimmy Williamson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Facebook was "a big help" in finding the perpetrators. Well, Williamson lied. Or, at least, he got his social networking sites confused. I present to you these screenshots of the Twitter page belonging to Bonner.

Now, being fluent in Twitter/text speak -- I got my doctorate from Oxford -- I can tell you that Bonner's tweets say he wants to sell these iPods, LAUGH OUT LOUD there's nothing wrong with the two he now possesses, and that he doesn't know, it has 8 gigabytes of memory.

Of course, it doesn't take a doctorate from Oxford to know that if you were recently in a locker room that had stuff stolen from it, which makes you a suspect, don't go trying to sell the stuff on Twitter. No, that only takes common sense. Not that you should be stealing stuff in the first place, but if you're going to, don't be an idiot about it.

The more you know, kids. The more you know.

@CraigK... I'm not saying you don't make a decent point (some of it) but I think you are missing a major factor in your argument - which makes it somewhat irrelevant...

You can not expect a kid to "value a free scholarship" if (1.) he has been greased through the education system for most of his life due to his athletic ability and therefore lends little importance to it.  (2.) Let's be honest that many of these schools offer no "real education".  Sure it may be "free" but they place them in moron courses that keep them eligible but have no basis for graduation let alone future employment.

These kids don't enjoy "street life," many simply don't have life knowledge of anything else.  Btw, go to an urban black community and ask most people what they think of college basketball recruiters.  In general they are known as the devil.  They have promised families the moon-and-stars while low and behold the kid is back in the hood two to three years later due to injury, grades, extra-curriculars, etc.

I guess its like this... I used to be a corporate tax attorney, hence, personal and corporate tax codes where common everyday knowledge for me.  Now let's say, you filed your own taxes and missed one, two or maybe even three deductions and my comment to you is that "you must WANT to get screwed by the government" because of these errors.  That wouldn't be a very fair assessment now would it?  Its not that you WANTED a bad outcome, its that you didn't have much or enough knowledge on the topic to be successful or to truly value its importance.

Now place this example into the original topic.  Hopefully, it makes a little better sense.

Georgia Rules

Richt's still hoping to get these crooks to uga when they get out of the slammer.  He's on the hot seat and needs anyone good, even if they are criminals.  Besides, they will come in with street cred after this arrest and the other uga players will look up to them.  Just win baby!!!

Nice SEC, keep recruiting the best and brightest.  You maggots will soon be busted like the old Southworst Conference, as your antics are getting  beyond ridiculous.  The NCAA is gonna have to pick off one of your second-tier schools for the death penalty (like SMU), think South Carolina/Ole Miss/Arkansas, to send the message to the rest of you greaseballs that your poor ethics and lack of institutional control can't be tolerated any longer.

As I stated in a previous post, change the name of your divisions to 'Smash' and 'Grab' or 'Thug' and 'Life' in the meantime.

Good riddance suckers. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha...
